    이 책은 평생교육의 기초적이고 전반적인 내용을 학습할 수 있도록 평생교육의 핵심을 다룬 이론서이다. 가급적 미래 지향적인 관점에서 평생교육의 역사와 정책을 재구성하고 학습자가 미래의 전망을 모색할 수 있도록 다양한 자료를 제시하고자 노력하였다.
